kruby01 114
I bought a second hand Spanish sxs a few days ago and it seemed fine in the shop, had a test fire and all was okay so I bought it. On the first day out I noticed when I open the chambers the barrels dont quite drop enough to get the shells in. I have to pull the barrels Down another 1mm or the brass catches the action. Its not a great issue its just something I know it shouldnt be doing. Does anyone know how to fix this or is it just one of those things we have to live with? SportingShooter 0
I'm guessing that when you open the gun, the barrels drop so far and then to open them fully, they pull down slightly more and spring back when you let go? If that's the case, it's perfectly normal on European guns and Baikals etc. Quote Link to post
kruby01 114
Well you learn something new everyday. Ive never noticed it before but then ive had two Baikal single 12's and a single Baikal .410 and they didn't do it. Quite annoying really I'd rather it open enough to fit shells in haha Quote Link to post
Cliff Ray 185
It depends on the gun design. At some point in the reloading cycle you have to put enough force in to recock the firing mechanism (and ejectors if it has them). That can be on either the opening or closing action. charlie caller 3,654
You can have the grooves in the ejectors and barrel where the cartridge sits reamed a bit to deepen them slightly, I had it done on a Lincoln u/o once it did help a bit, but I would not worry too much. slipper 116
My rizzini is the same it's a pain sometimes when your in a rush to put the cartridges in but my mates ancient berretta drops right down just the way it is I suppose Quote Link to post
kruby01 114
Ive got two other shotguns that dont have this problem but by the sound of it some Spanish guns are just designed that way. Quite annoying but at least I know its not broken. Cheers for the replies Billy Quote Link to post
