knocker 0
i use old jumpers from the charity shop down the road, the ones they can't sell i buy off em for a couple of quid a black bag full, changed every couple of days they're perfect bedding. i use shavings in poo corner (i'm lucky in that the three of em use one place to crap ) have tried hay and straw but find it too dusty, i find shredded paper a bit harsh for my liking but each to their own. Ron Weasley 83
I use a combination of different stuff. In their bed, I use hay in winter, unless it's a particularly dusty batch, then I'll use shredded paper. In summer, they have woodshavings throughout- never had any problems with this. I've never used straw, as I was told many years ago when I first started keeping ferrets that it holds mites etc. To this day, I don't know if there's any truth in it, but it's one of those things that I've just kept in mind, as it was pretty much my first piece of ferreting advice. COMPO 54
I think perhaps you used too much shavings, or it was low grade shavings with lots of sawdust inside it. I only use shavings to cover the corner where they go to the toilet, i dont use shavings on the floor etc...just where they go to the toilet, this way it saves on the shavings and also doesn't cause such problems with the ferts inhaling the dust In the bed box its shredded newspapers Quote Link to post

Madcowz 0
Shredded paper for their nest, get this from work. Straw for the floor of the court, get this from the farm. and for the litter trays I use this funny stuff from the farm, it is recycled paper ground down, grey in colour and they bought it for the cows but found it wasn't too great and therefore have about two tonnes sitting going spare. Ideal! /Mad Quote Link to post
