The hunting ban gave the authorities another stick to beat lurcher lads with. However, it was always thus. If you hop a fence, you were, and always will be at the mercy of the law. If you have permission and work within the parameters of the ban there is very little they can do. It would be interesting to see the split between convictions for trespass in pursuit of game, and convictions for breaching the rules of the hunting ban. Then compare those with the stats from before the ban for trespass in pursuit of game

How many convictions has there been for coursing since the ban? Doubt you would need the fingers on both hands to answer that, because these "operations" to clamp down on illegal coursing is to raise the public into thinking its working BUT cases are brought to court on "trespass in search of game" but would that sound as good to the public NO IMHO.

Every Coursing card stated by kind permission of.........the landowner and neighbours therefore the club had permission to run the meeting, so anyone going back at a later day who did nt have the landowners consent were "trespassing in search of game" and even preban were commiting a crime.

Last year we had elections for police commissioners to oversee police actions, It might be worthwhile writing to yours pointing out your views and concerns and the cost to the police force with so few convictions to report. These commissioners are independant of the police and will have to answer your queries

I think what cockers trying to say but his too polite. Is we all marched side by side in London and in Brighton. Huntsmen. Shooting men. Ferretters. Fishermen. Lampers. Coursers . All with the same demand. LEAVE OUR COUNTRY PURSUITS ALONE. Countryside alliance took our donations and promised to fight to the death for our rights to do as we been doing for hundreds if years. What did they do for the average joe who likes to run his running dogs ill tell you absolute fick all. They sold us down the river and shit on us from a great height. Hunts still hunt snd the same men who we all stood and vexed our opinons of the government proposals the hunt followers are the first on the phone to the police if they see a running dog runnning a poxy rabbit without permission and the same can be said of the grassing back stabbing shooting fraternity. What did they expect the humble lurcher man to do lie down and die. Us lurcher men made up three quarters of the marchers and I hope when the government tryand ban hhunting with hounds again ud lurcher men stick two fingers up to the horn blowing red coat wankers. All for one and f**k the normal man in the street with his okd scruffy lurcher.the countryside alliance instead of uniting us all have done the opposite and divided the running dog and hunting fraternity.

The antis and the authorities are on a loosing battle focusing on the hunts. So there putting all the resources into coursing. The hunts have stuck together and fought the ban and I think they've won. But coursing well there's been no comradeship no support for fellow hunting enthusiastic s we haven't stuck together hence the police and antis.

when the marches and demos were on i knew treble the amount of lurcher folk that didnt go on any or didnt put any input in to trying to stop the ban as i did ones that actually did anything to help says it all really .imo the main probleni is the general public as a rule beleive all the hype and bullshit that the police and press are spouting about coursing ie theiving gangs of hardened criminals going round the country betting obscene amounts of money on which dog can rip the hare apart first ,and while the general public are reading and beleiving all this crap we are to put it bluntly well and truly f****d . and if the rumours about the hunts being allowed to start hunting with full packs instead of just 2 hounds we will be even further in the mire .

No one can say you didn't pull your weight on the demos J, and never frightened to get up the front,as I remember from Parliament Square.

cheers innan. yes remember it well had the bruises to prove it as well but didnt really do us any good we should have pushed on from there and started blocking the cities and motorways throuout the country on weekdays when it really would have hurt the goverment and made them take notice . and to those that thought the ca didnt do anything you obviously were not a member of, or havnt heard of the real countryside alliance beleive me they were really going to town at that time .but i stick with what i stated to many lurcher men couldnt be bothered to stick up for or do anything to help the cause and a lot of them that didnt are now shouting the loudest i cant give them the time of day .and j darcy i cant and dont beleive that the foxhunts are getting all the shit that the coursing lot are getting at the moment , but good luck to thenm for getting away with it i say because they at least did all stick up for their sport when it mattered there were plenty of them on the front line getting battered for doing what they felt was right .

Boyo, Inan: that was the scariest thing: being squashed at the front of the march, right up against a copper who seemed like a brick wall and ten feet tall. When I told him he was squashing me, he told me to move back :censored: Yeah right: with I don't know how many thousand people behind. The only time I have felt truly frightened. But by all accounts that side of the march was child's play compared to what went on in the square.

if coursing was still legal i would also still like to see it afforded police protection from antis, but it isn't legal, and neither was the fox hunt last week, yet north yorkshire police were out in force to the hunts rescue, protecting them from 4 or 5 malnourished little university students

my gripe isn't with the hunt or the antis, its with the police of today.

Cocker, that hunt isn't just being 'protected' by the police , they are sometimes targetted by them too, undercover ops, videoing to try and get enough evidence to make a charge stick as what happened last year.

The hunts are carrying on, good luck to 'em, they have the landowners blessings and it's 'business as usual'. Good on them I say, we're all in it together.

see this is the main factor here landowners blessing the ones that are getting caught and fcuking up peoples land in 4x4s are bringing it bang on tp the fen lads i bet 80% havnt got permission for them so there getting seen and its tresspass and criminal dammage if you have permission and aslong as your not actually caught with big ears or seen your sound there ways and means round this but the main thing is permission

Take I stroll around this forum......

Lurcher folk come across as morons for the most part.

The greatest enemy the lurcher game faces are the idiots and scum in our ranks..... And the fact that they now have means to show themselves to the world!

The simple answer is the ban will remain, so carry on running permission or not , the dog does not know the difference so just enjoy it .Look on it this way if no one broke the law how many plod and solicitors would be out of work so we are helping with the countries employment situation.

The public perception is that coursing is barbaric - for years the antis have been ramming this message down the publics throats to the point that people now view it as a good way to spend their tax on the police. NO-ONE has fought this. The CA have done FA for years - i remember when the Antis would have a trestle table on every high street on saturdays peddling badges and lies to students and anyone who would listen. there was no counter-argument - the CA were obsessed with foxhunting, they briefly got their knickers in a twist when they thought they might not be able to use terrriers but otherwise everything has fallen into place for them. i remember being at the Midlands Game fair years ago and asking the CA tent how I could get more involved with coursing given that i had been hunting for years. THe answer I got was a stone wall. They didn't have a clue and picked their battles.

Lack of organisation, too many total Jeremy Kyle candidates and a lack of respect for the law got us in this mess and will keep us there until something new comes along.

You should experience the "Bullet" trains in Japan P there are frotteurists on there who would see you as the meat in their sandwich. :D

I had an American girl friend when I was hitch-hiking in N Africa, she punched a local in the face when we were jammed like sardines on a bus, I looked at her in amazement till she explained he was," a goddamn masher"!

To be honest I rarely hear anyone moaning about coursing being barbaric .....mostly the issue seems to be about its association with pikeys, the money element, driving land with no perm, the dog thefts, the groups of multiple lads and dogs and the plastering of it all over the Internet .........

Most folk don't give a rats arse about the hare, hence why they all get shot!
