ginga john 268
had a semi tame fox for a few years, came as a cub, it was around 9 years old when it died. must say though it was kept in pen so was well looked after. i remember an article a few years back, pre-ban, that said the everage age of a "wild" fox was three years, not sure how true but how do you find out these things. Paul in North Lincs 15
I've been trying to tag a wiley old dog fox with one ear for the last 6 years on a local spot..... He was an unusually big dog when I first spotted him all those years ago...............he still dosn't look that bad now!!.... Once saw a mates dog (that was usually quite game) course it on the lamp.......half way across the field red did a 360 locked in and fronted this lurcher that completely bottled it and sat down!!!!!!! ......where food is short and life is hard......... foxes can get into terrible condition. theduck 0
To find out the age of a fox you must first take out the bottom K9. Then cut across it, near the root and it will have the rings like a tree. This also is the method of ageing deer. With vixens you can also see how many litters of cubs she has had and how many were in the litter. Cut up the belly as if your gona gut it, move the intesteens out the way (by sure not to split any of the guts coz it f**king stinks) and you will see the uterus (a Y shape tube) behind the blader. Pull it out and you can see the scares(as rings around the tubes) of where the cubs have grown. Dan Quote Link to post
