bigoy19706 276
hi i am not big on air rifles had 1 or 2 nothing much good just springer's. I just got an old BSA meteor for £30 from a friend its in a bit of a stat the stock ruff and the paint on the barrels all scratched but it shoots ok. The thing is it seems very week it's really easy to cock and the barrel seems loos. I do wont the gun for shooting rabbit I was told to get an ox spring for it but after going to the gun shop the man there told me it wood put the gun over power and the trigger wood not last. so my question is what spring wood be ok for the gun are they hard to fit and will it every get up to 12ftp I am not asking you to tell me how to make it over power just some thing I can hunt with atb bigoy Quote Link to post
atomlab 104
prob best just to fit a standard spring for the gun , plus the triggers on meteors are hard enough to pull to start with Quote Link to post
valboskie 39
Hi there bigoy im doing a bsa meteor mk5 restoration just now. Im almost finished with it . I just bought the standard bsa spring and I have replaced the buffer washer Plus the o ring I have de burred everything and polished the piston. I'm hoping for 8.5 to 9 fpe max. That's about all they done from new I was told. Bigger springs can damage the rifle. Here is a link to my restoration http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/307748-bsa-meteor-mk5-restoration/ Quote Link to post

Stormspiel 17
I've done my old BSA Supersport. Loaded it up with a Titan Xs mainspring, new seals, polished internals etc. It came out at about 14 ft.lb Couple of coils off and it's now at a steady 10.6 ft.lb and smooth as you like Quote Link to post
bigoy19706 276
I have been looking it to getting it up around 12 ft.lb and been told the meteor will only go to about 9ft.lb is this right Quote Link to post
valboskie 39
You can get higher there are a few threads with guys getting 10.5 fpe or higher They machined 1.6mm off the piston head and added a couple of washers. Or t r robb sell a ready prepared piston head for tuning the meteor it does away with the Buffer washer and has the head already machined down. If you put yo much spring in the trigger can get hard to use it will not release without a struggle This is info I have read not personal experience Atb David Quote Link to post
