thursodog 353
Hi folks. I'm trying to persuade a lad i know to part with a very neglected HW77 with a 25mm piston. It needs a total strip, reblue etc etc......... What I'm thinking though is would the 25mm piston etc produce less recoil than the updated 26 mm gubbings? I read somewhere that this is the case but was wondering if anyone can help me with this? Cheers folks Chris. Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
The 25mm is reputed to have less recoil! Certainly my .22 does not recoil as much as I thought it would! Quote Link to post

thursodog 353
Hi Webster. Thanks for the offer pal, that would be good. I'd like to compare it with my 97, forgot to mention the one I'm after is .177. Cheers Chris. Quote Link to post
taito 2
hi they do shoot with less recoil and alot sweeter to as there is less volume, so you dont need such a strong spring to get them in the 11-11.5 ft/lb power range, lock time is also reduced, this is why you hear alot of people short stroking there spring rifles because they shoot that much sweeter! the reason hw introduced the 26mm piston was there was a demand for higher power (FAC) and the 25mm pistons dident have the swept volume to output higher levels of power. hope that made some sence sounded ok in my head. thursodog 353
Thanks for the offer. No probs. It makes a difference to accuracy once their tuned and breaking nicely with a light pull. It will have to wait till the new year though as I'm going to be very busy with my other half and our boys over the next while. We can hook up and I'll take my Springers along for a comparison.
