South hams hunter 8,922
It keeps happening because I hold it to far up the forks and when I pull it back it ends up slightly escalated thus hitting the webbing between my thumb and forefinger. B.P.R 2,798
Ill enlighten you pete. . Them black widow types are 'ok' .... and them squared bands do the job too... their bandlife... far exceeds any other out there... But its the 'flat types' that reign supreme on power and speed... namely theraband gold... There is others... chinese tubes of various combinations... But the right theraband gold setup can reach rediculous speeds... 400 feet per second.... for some people! .... Hitting your hand.... Well aye... it hurts.... depending what you have in the pouch... will depend how much it hurts.... An 8mm steel ball (cant remember exactly) .... will look like this... While a 12mm steel ball will look like this... If also think it would be difficult to hit your hand on a black widow type... as its held hammer grip... and the hands quite far away from the path of the ball... like so... Whereas some cattys are 'embraced'... with much lower forks... therefore a lot less margin for error... like so... The most dangerous... Is a RTS... return to sender... where the ammo sticks in the pouch... instead of releasing forwards... and as the bands retract back.... Fling the ball back to your face... Ive had ONE of these... hit me right on the chest .... So a set of balistic glasses are worn when practicing ... Class dismissed ... gnipper 6,484
When I was a kid me and my mate made some improvised catties out of a shelf bracket and elastic bands joined together which fired bent oval nails pretty impressively and could "do the bizz" on factory windows etc . Anyway this older lad (who always has and will be a bellend) snatched one off us one day and demanded a go and the thick fecker had his thumb stuck up and copped a 2 1/2 inch oval nail in the finger nail and screamed like a bitch. His thumb went purple instantly too and is still 20 years later one of the funniest things I've ever seen Edited December 10, 2013 by gnipper
Hydropotesinermis 724
When I was about 12 or 13 I was shooting clay pigeons that my mate was throwing with a Barnet diablo catty, I had hit 2 out of 15 as on the 16th I drew back and... Thwack hit my hand, I reckon I was swinging the catapult but not the hand with the pouch in. I was using a piece of Flint which broke my metacarpal, (I think that's the one) and mashed the knuckle on my trigger finger, thinking I would have a bollocking from my old man I tried to force the joint back into shape by whacking it on the edge of my mums kitchen table. This did not help. It was rapidly swelling so I wrapped it up real tight in insulating tape and put a glove over it. Not sure how long later but I eventually passed out from the pain, woke up with my shit scared 12 year old mate looking down at me crying thinking I was dead. Eventually got to the doctors, my hand was a f***ing mess. Pretty much lost the use of my trigger finger, for anyone in the same situation. You CANNOT re set broken bones by whacking them on a table edge.
