jultaylor1972 2
A friend of mine has a springer whose tail is disintegrating. She has had her at the vets several times and each time they've taken a bit of her tail off. Now she's at the point where they have taken as much off as they can and if it doesn't heal or becomes infected the dog will have to be PTS. I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice to aid healing and prevent infection? Thanks.

walshie 2,804
Sounds like the vet didn't take enough off in the first place. I'd ask for a second opinion. My dog had an infected tail and the vet took off a huge amount, but stopped the infection.
jultaylor1972 2
It wasn't docked and the vet just took little bits at a time off. Too late for a second opinion; if this doesn't work she'll have to be PTS.

planete 120
I have had success with wounds that would not heal using manuka honey (rating 15+). My vet was happy for me to use it, worth mentioning it to the dog's vet?
