The Best Rabbit Traps?

Alright lads, I do a lot of ferreting on my permission but some of it is going to be a pain in the rear to ferret, a lot of debris old concrete, hardcore and metal used to be dumped there. I can just see it's going to be a pain. Can anyone suggest the some good traps to use?

I use 50 mk6 fenns and block trap and problem burrows . or trap the rabbits in the spring when theres lots of youngsters about

Okay mate thanks for your help I've got some mk6 fenns on order and guna put my cage traps out today. Any advice on best place to put the cage traps?

I prefer the juby or the imbra to me they are a much better trap than the fenn, the fenn is light and compact and easily obtained the other two are none of these, the mk 6 fenn is a bad trap to use in the spring when young rabbits are about and if I had to use fenns to catch young rabbits I would use the mk4 [a trap that is the right size for the design] I know its horses for courses with traps but a trap is only as good as the man setting it and I think like "jubys abd imbras " there are not to many of them about.

Aye it surprises me that nobody starts making the Juby,s and I mbra,s again as there a descent trap and still legal

I too am amazed that no-one has started manufacturing Imbras again. Juby traps would be more complicated as I believe the patent is still held by MAFF (now DEFRA).

 

A quick word of warning; while the Mk4 Fenn may well be more suited to immature rabbits than the Mk6, it is not approved for the purpose.

 

To me, the best trap is the one that works well in the environment in which it's been set. Sometimes a Fenn is ideal. Cages certainly have their place these days, and providing you can keep the two legged thieves and vandals at bay they can produce good results.

unfortunatly i dont think there would be enuff sales to warrant someone to start manufacturing imbras,pity cos if they did , i would definatly ave a few

I myself only ferret gas or shoot but when it comes to Rabbit trapping I'd listen to anything Nod has to say!!!

Yeah mate been a ferreting man since I was. Youngster but I just don't have enough time to cover all of my brief. Time to start trapping I've got the live catch cages out, so I'll let everyone know how I get on. How effective is gassing then mate?

gassing is only as effective as the men applying it , ground conditions can play a big part on how effective it can be and it always must be followed up and if you have lazy neighbours it can be a waste of money
