Bad Scent Good Scent

Recommended Posts

We went out on Saturday hounds could not take a hunt on past a couple of Fields even when a fox bolted out in front of them , Today same hounds hunted the fist fox on a long cold drag until they got up to him them hunted him for 40mins until he went to ground and they marked him strong in peat bank pics below . We then jumped another fox from a small bog and again hunted him well but had a check at a earth under a small lane . Terrier said no and hounds could not take it on . we started to load and had half the pack in the trailer when the hunt took off trailer door open and away they went took him to a well known burrow where they marked strong again . still surprised how two days can be so different

Trying to work out the science of scenting is one of the things thats makes hound work so interesting for me especially. There are so many variable that can effect scent but a good scenting day with good hounds is special thing to see

The guy hunting them obviously knows his stuff some great control shown there.

great pics too
