Cockers

Recommended Posts

The misses is keen on getting a cocker for the wee ones birthday in the summer and I'm keen on 1 from working stock so that I can use it for some bushing/flushing for the lurchers, so I'm wondering is there anyone on here or knows anyone planning a litter of cockers in the spring/summer? I'm based in the west coast of scotland and willing to travel as far as say manchester for the right pup, thanks in advance Darren

Can't beat a spaniel for flushing, that's why beaters use them and not lurchers.

In have a spring er booked and am looking forward to working the springer for the lurcher.

I know of a very good litter of working cockers the bitch has been mated, you would need to be quick because they wont be about long, dog is FTC from rytex kennel.

pm me if your serious mate

A well bred lurcher in the genuine sense of the word will find as much game as any gundog.

Its Saluki x I keep mate and their not really the best hunters with their nose, a gundog type would suit better and the misses is keen on a cocker for the wee ones birthday in the summer so it'll be the best of both worlds, a good family pet for the misses and the wee one aswell as out with me flushing to the lurchers

How'd you go about training them to bush? I'm abit nieve with cockers/bushing I'm more into daytime coursing so have plenty expeiriance with working dogs, what sort of lines should I be looking out for?

just the same as working cover soon as they get the scent and there first chase into cover theyll work it for you mate obviously as a pup youll do the basics sit stay and recall then retrieve then go from tthere they soon pik it up mate its all about you and not the dog you have to teach it its job

I dont agree, well bred lurchers can do a good turn but not in the same league as lab, cocker, springer

iagree mate a lurcher not as good as a proper bushing dog be it a terrier or gun dog cocker lab springer but there not made for that saying that all depends on lurcher a small lurcher a beddy would if trained right
