Although we try to find open warrens for the craic,..and of course for letting the dog have a sprint,...90% of my work is amongst woodland brash and seemingly endless fecking hedgerows....Some of them go on for miles,...literally...

 

When netting bramble covered banks and similar places,..(and it is not always possible, or suitable to use the stop nets)...I like the net to travel fast and purse instantly the rabbit enters the meshes...(I also like a wee dog to be on the scene),...but,.if a dog is not allowed,..I invariably set the net over the burrow and then,..slide the ring down tight as I can to the top of the hole,.and most important of all,..get that retaining peg,..as far back as possible...

This insures that the net fires instantly,...and in truth,.I don't miss many shushis,... in my purses..
