Gaz_1989 9,539
He shouldn't be too rough off that pic mate. My bitch had a similar coat as a pup. It's thick and broken in places but not rough as such. Good mix anyway. Should be a nice one. What sort of size were parents roughly? Quote Link to post

Personally I don't see the need for heaters in the temperatures we get. My kennels same as yours, off the floor, draught board to stop draft getting to sleeping areas, insulated, loads of clean dry bedding. Dogs hold there weight through winter no problem at all. Some lads say the dogs recover from a hard night better under a lamp and it makes sense. Warm the muscles up. For this reason alone I bed my dogs down by the fire after a hard shift. But the argument they they "stretch out" under a lamp and curl up without a lamp is nonsense. My bitch sleeps curled up in a tight ball even if she's in front of the fire. I would never criticise someone for having a lamp or heater and if I thought my dogs needed one then I would buy them one in a flash. Cost or convenience doesn't come into it. I just don't think my dogs would benefit. I did put a rug on my bitch last winter for a couple of weeks when it really dropped below -10c. But her coat is like a whippets. My pup has got a good thick coat and plenty of puppy fat so won't be needing one I don't think. Quote Link to post
