Cos I do rough shooting and get the odd pheasant here and there and I wonder if they've been relised or they have been raised in the wild. Just curiosity I suppose.

There will be a difference but I doubt it would be easy to tell. A wild diet must make a difference to the meat flavor for example, it would be really interesting to see if you could tell the difference.

I was chatting to my mate last night about this. He thinks the wild ones are much more nervy and tend to break cover sooner and fly much faster. Maybe because they are older?

Thank you Nik!!! Yes there are definitely some birds that don't think twice once you 100 metres away!! There some that you ferreting and shooting rabbits and don’t break cover till you step on them!

I agree the wild birds that we sometimes flush are really nervous and if you do get one there spurs are about a inch long showing how long they have survived
