How do you know that chanterelles are indeed chanterelles and not jack o lanterns? is it where they are or do they look different? Chantrelles i pick are in pine woods and my grandfather shown em me there is a few sorts that look the same its the way the gills are straight instead of forked and the slight different shade of colour more yellow than orange thats the easiest way to tell if your not sure get a good field guide that should show you the difference easier. Godman Honey fungus is best left alone ive seen a few folks get ill when eating honey fungus when doing the festivals it suits some folks but not others i never bother with it although its a great looking fungus.
