Steve_in_Devon 9
I think you miss my point, I am not saying dont have it on the news for 5 mins, or a small mention in a newspaper, but I will reiterate, the man was not a saint, or a demonstrable figure of world peace,he was a murderer, be that by his own hand or by his direction to others, you cannot deny that! so it makes me sick, as it clearly does to others, that he is being remembered by every person that wants a bit of limelight, as a jolly old stick, who fought against the oppression of the evil whites. I wonder how many IRA terrorists will be lauded in similar fashion in years to come? Or perhaps the leader of the black panthers ect, I am sure we could compile quite a list. Yes I agree, but people have very good opions on there, do they know what it wa like to live in SA, did they used to hear about how people were treated during the apartheid years. It is very easy to form opinions with one side of the story. How many South Africans are not upset about his death?
WILF 46,811
Why did you leave matey if you don't mind me asking? No need for a pm this time. Bacause I didnt want to bring up my children in Joburg, and I was going to have to move there because of work. Why not?.....tell me to mind my own if you like. Just wondering that if Nelson was such a great chap and created such a great nation, why would you want to leave? You do realise that he was not president anymore? He might have done some good things (my opnion) but that doesnt mean that this would be carried on, every president has his own agenda, as with any countries priminster/president The reason we left was Joburg can not be a very safe place and I didnt want my children having to live like that. I have lots of friends who love Joburg, but is was not for us. I am also not a big city person. Fair enough

Don't mention the terrorist word or any implication of him being involved in murder. You'll be banned from every Bob Geldof and Sting concert for life and as for any hopes of joining the Socialist Workers Party forget it. He needs to be canonised by the west so we can be absolved of guilt for the last 200 years As we speak Bono is getting his parachute on ready to free fall from an airplane over London whilst distributing South African Peace crisps

It is very easy to form opinions with one side of the story. How many South Africans are not upset about his death? I have no idea, and quite frankly don't care! the fact remains that it shows the peversity of the world we live in when a man who has commited henious crimes, can rise to superstar status, and be fawned on by people worldwide, who I strongly suspect, a lot of have no idea about his past, and every sickly radio presenter and newsreader, and cowardly politician is speaking about him as if some great man of peace, or someone who was responsible for ending suffering on a mass scale has passed away, you see there is only one side of the story, if Heinrich Himmler had in later life become an icon of world peace and done good work in the jewish community, would that have been justification to forgive his earlier naughtiness?
