Mandela Dies

Recommended Posts

That doesn't make it okay though does it? Regardless of what he achieved after prison his actions beforehand shouldn't be glossed over as seems everyone is doing. I've seen people claiming he should be handed a Sainthood?! Truly f*****g mental.

I get your point.......but we gloss over our actions........I've no sympathy for Mandela........but when England chooses what economically is the 'right cause', women & children die also, cos of our actions......fact. Edited by Accip74

Yeah definitely. Women and children have been killed the world over from our actions. But we're not being lauded round the world as some kind of hero, give us a saint hood etc!

Accip - Not at all. We've done more than our fair share of horrible stuff over the years that should never have happened. I'm just perplexed at the Sainthood comments, i've never killed anyone so if he's a Saint am i technically God? :hmm::laugh:

A sense of perspective please.

Don't forget the UK was the first country to abolish slavery in 1833. It was considered morally repugnant even back then when we were sending prisoners to the colonies and taking children from women who'd given birth out of wedlock.

I don't think we have much to apologise for compared to the other countries.
