Had A Realy Lucky Catch Yesterday.

Recommended Posts

Was ferreting a small orchard yesterday last warren of the day I set up in a hurry because I had to be home for 230. Anyway I was 1 net short for this warren so I covered a double hole with 1 4ft net. I obviously either didn't put the peg in or not far enough because the rabbit bolted taking the net with it wearing it like a tie. I got low watching the rabbit so that I could see where my purse net drops off so I could get it back. The rabbit went out of sight and then I heard a squeal which I assumed meant the rabbit had tried running through the brambles and got caught up. As soon as I had the ferret back in the box I ran over to the corner of the orchard and found the rabbit with his neck caught through a mesh of the net and his back legs completely tangled in the meshes. The net must of gotten under the rabbits feet while he changed direction.

Anyone ever seen this happen before? First for me.

got a couple of permissions with sandy soil so its hard sometimes to knock the pegs in enough, had a couple bolt and take the net but didnt get far as like you said their legs tangle and bowl them over it gives you enough time to get hold of them, just depends on how much the net manages to close as they bolt, good hunting though buddy

Had a rabbit bolt out of a unnetted hole, run down the hill slammed straight into the carrying box and stunned it enough for me to deal with, funny to watch that one

Similar, bolted a fox, one small thin tree on the whole hill, fox was galloping away and it run into the tree, same... Funny
