Wiring Lamp

Recommended Posts

If I were you I would not bother with the bullet end they are unreliable the solder inside melts off and they lose connection when your Lamping. This is what me and mate have found I would just use spade clips and a inline fuse holder that's what I'm changeling mine to.

A lithium battery already has the socket for a bullet connector built in so how do you connect spade clips to it? Are you saying to break into the casing?

Sadly these lamps are not made for what WE want. The connection(cigar) are crap. I chop these off and wire straight to battery. Just use spades to connect the wires and then use sleeving or gaffer tape. I have found this to be the best way.

The connection that goes into the battery could be better IMO as overtime the lead twists up and the housing becomes wobbly.

I had a moan to Deben about this and got sent a few spare wires which rather than come out vertical from the battery come out at a right angle which maybe better.

Really the battery would be far more robust with a decent connected similar to the ones you use on computer screens with the two screws, maybe one day they will produce something more robust and useful to lampers, but I for one won't be holding my breath.

I'm not sure what problems people have with the connectors?

When I got mine I taped the battery connector up and taped the female cigarette connection to the battery so it can't move. Never had an issue.

If you use those cigarette (cigar)connections a lot they fail or at best give dodgy unreliable connections.

If you do a lot of lamping you will find this out in time.
