Rip Kip:-You Never Gave Me Any You Fecker.

Recommended Posts

Had to put Kip my Hancock collie/grey down yesterday. Fourteen years of purgatory I suffered with the fecker. I can't believe I'm rid of the b*****d. Yippee. The mrs and the kids thought the world of her. I feckin did not.

Here's a list of the things that pissed me off about her.

1) She was HYPERACTIVE. Never settled for a minute. Always circling, always wanting to play fetch.Always watching you, wanting attention of any type. Even when I tried to get her into hunting mode she would fetch a fecking stick when the ground was crawling with game.

2) She was extremely sensitive to noise : jet aircraft, fireworks, noisy exhausts would have her salivating with anxiety. I had to sedate her at bonfire time. If she really got freaked she would head for home and no amount of calling would bring her back.

3) She was nervous/aggressive with other dogs. She would run from any strange dog and bite if she was cornered-even if the dog just wanted to play. She was snarly with my other dogs 24/7.

4) She was hard mouthed, picked her runs and lost interest completely by the time she was eight years old.

5) She got arthritis when she was about ten so had to be on medication for that-expensive.

6) She was a shit jumper and often needed stitches. I bet my vet was pissed off he put her down, he'll have a lot less pocket money from now on.

7) Her only good point was that she was so shit it gave my mates a good laugh.

8) Everybody is upset at home, except me, Xmas has come early.

I'm not knocking Hancock, I was just unlucky. I'm prepared to accept that other guys would have bonded with her better. Some guys can defo handle collie types better than me.

But for those thinking about a collie/grey, remember they can come with a lot of baggage.

I would consider a 3/4 grey collie. But I would never risk a half cross-too much collie can be a nightmare.

I woke up this morning with a big grin, I had to swap shifts yesterday to attend the vets, so will have to work xmas eve. But who cares? My tormentor has departed this life. :bye:

Always found it funny why people on here advise novices to get collie xs as 'they are easier to train'. They may well be but they are also often neurotic, obsessive pain in the arses. As apposed to a

If its a genuine post and like you say you are not knocking Dave Hancock, then you are being honest plus you have put your familiys feelings before your frustrations, what cross are you thinking of with your next dog?.

Something simple and laid back.

Always fancied a deer/grey. But getting the right blood is difficult. I'll take my time.
