I'm Not Gonna Live This One Down But.....

Recommended Posts

After finding a new home for Helen and me and an impending move to Lincolnshire before Christmas (hopefully); plus a lot of shit with the ongoing business of suing my former business partner for theft and fraud from my business, I need a cheer-up and buy a new rifle. Well, a man has to have his sport. And I've got the best spring rifles on the planet.

So....I've bought.....a......PCP!

Daystate Huntsman Regal in .177. And all the bollocks needed for it, scope, airtank (fer fack's sake!) hard shell case, ammo, the lot.

It'll be arriving after Christmas but, after sorting out the Daystate Huntsman Classic and the kit and kaboodle I've bought for Helen's Christmas pressie, I've become seriously impressed with how good this rifle is to shoot and how beautiful it looks. As much as anything, it looks absolutely, honestly beautiful. Like a classical Hunting rifle and it shoots and handles like a bolt action rifle should. So, despite what I've written in the past about PCPs, I've fallen seriously in love with this one. So I'm having it! And I'm going to enjoy shooting it over my new permissions in Lincs!

I still remain forever a spring rifle man first and last. And the HW80, 77 and 97K plus the TX200HC I have will match this PCP thing for accuracy any day!

But, this rifle is close to my heart as a chap who likes a classical look to his air rifles. And nothing else looks like these air rifles do. And I should really move with the times and get among what's out there.

Some might say I've bought a pile of shit. But from where I'm standing and what I've seen from these Daystates...No I certainly haven't!

Might opt for a .303 Wolverine on my ticket next. Who knows?

Looking forward to venturing into the darkside for a while.

Well Simon i hope your getting the pink gloves that come with your new gaystate... ;)

Must admit the regal does look nice.. but im well set up with my hw100kt.

Like you i am a springer man at heart. Im only 26 so in a good 20-30 years i might get to the level you are at if i practice enough! Hopefully.

Ive always said a pcp - multishot and silenced is better for hunting/pest control, but i still love the rewarding sence of achievement a springer brings. :)

All the best with your new place, permissions and rifle :)

Pretty Rifles Simon,

Have had a top of the line Airwolf MCT but hated the mag system and was always forgetting to charge the battery :icon_redface:

also the airstream MK 5 Silencer was shite.

But where PCP's are concerned it has to be My Beasty the TTR 1 .25 cal  No other PCP compares to this Hunting rig

for Me, Even My HW100 gets left in the cupboard for the Rapid, out to 55 yards its a superb set up and noting compares to the Kinetic knock down

But i still like My plinking fun gun the Untuned 1985 .22 Theoben Sirrocco, there's just something joyful in hitting the target with a standard recoiling rifle !!!!!

Why try and tune a recoiler to have the characteristics of a PCP with less recoil? The joy is in the thump of the rifle and it hitting what You've aimed at.

That's really very kind of you Symon. We will be living a mile from RAF Coningsby, gloriously under the flightpaths of the Typhoon and Tornado wings and the Memorial Flight. Is that near you? I have a strong connection with the unit, being an ex-Rock Ape and now, through my aviation art business. Hence the move!

Best wishes.

Simon

Best of luck with this new rifle Simon. It really is a beautiful gun. I was considering one myself but my local RFD told me that the waiting time for one was in excess of six weeks - clearly there are many folk who have also been smitten!
