Retrieving.

Hi everyone just having a problem with my young saluki x grey bitch. She normally gets hold of the rabbit and waits for me to come to her. I know its not ideal and she should be retrieving to hand but thats how she is at the moment! But the last 2 rabbits she ran she got them and then when i came over she picked it up and walked away with it... Is there anything i can do to stop this?

try keeping it on a lead and let it watch a experianced dog work for a bit atb

Go back to dummy work, teach it to hold and let it carry it about, then work on the recall.

How do you expect her to retrieve if you're going over to her? That's teaching her not to retrieve.

Get her recall bang on, then start all over again.
