Ideation 8,216
Well here you go JB, just for you. We decided to head back across the border today, the same crew as last Sunday, for a bit of a mooch on some of our favorite hunting ground. You can do a lot of ferreting, and some of it can be serious pest control and at times, pretty hard work, but this spot, is a good one for a social day out with the ferrets and dogs, letting the team have some fun. Up early doors, I picked up Johnnyboy and our friend and headed across the border. Piling out of the car at our usual spot, we let the hounds loose, and soon enough had a rabbit on the move, and to ground. We netted up, and then I went back to the car to get my phone. By the time i'd got back ten mins later, they'd had four out. As we started to de-net, Finn crossed the stream we were on, took a wander up the verge, and hunted up and flushed a rabbit out into the field, which he neatly caught So with five in the bag already we were feeling pretty relaxed We continued our wander, knocking rabbits about, pushing a few to ground, marking others, and doing a bit of netting and a bit of dogging. Bron is really shaping up into a sharp little ferreting bitch and Missy is coming on a treat, a really nice biddable bitch and I think one of the best looking i've seen. We were having a good time and enjoying ourselves, and then disaster struck we got a dig in a rubble mound, and the fecking spade head broke. . . .now i've had some good use out of that spade, and don't begrudge buying a new one. . . but it's timing was fecking poor! Anyway, we got the ferret out. . . . hands are a wonderful tool when you are desperate. But that ate up a fair bit of time, and meant we were limited to what we could ferret (having to try to avoid digs), however we soldiered on, picking up a few more, with Bron nailing a good bolter in style. As the day was drawing to an end, Gwen did a bit of a vanishing act. . . . baying off on something, and going out of sight and hearing. Luckily she re-appeared a little while later, having hitched a lift . . . Another good days social mooching and ferreting, and twenty four bunnys in the bag. Thanks again lads, it was good company as ever Edited December 1, 2013 by Ideation 5 Quote Link to post

johnny boy68 11,726
Nice write up and pics Jai, about time you stopped being a messer. Was a cracking day in good company again, its great to get away from the pest control jobs and just enjoy a bit of dog work, when we go to this spot I'm not that bothered about catching its just a great spot to let the dogs work. All the dogs did well yesterday and young Missy is really settling into the ferreting too, Finn was his usual busy self but as really settled down this season and Gwen well she's such a character and always makes me smile when she chuff's along on a nice fresh scent, she's fitted really well into the team I really enjoy having her about. Bron had another good day again and is really pleasing me after a few issues we've had, turning into a nice mooching cur. Thanks again lads for another cracking day in cracking company again.
