Beardie lurchers

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone else ran Beardie cross lurchers. Now, by Beardie cross I mean straight Beardie/Greyhound, be it 1/2, 3/4 or otherwise but, not Beardie/Border.

If you do run a Beardie cross I'd love to hear your experiences and see any photos you may have.

I had a first cross bitch out of Marc H Glens dog Sheamus, she was a cracker, one of the fastest little rabbit dogs Ive ever owned, a real natural. She was out of a proper working beardie dog put to a tested greyhound which always helps

i remember reading somewhere that the beardie cross made a better fox dog than the border???

Only ever had one Beardie cross: she lurved foxes :D to the extent that by the time she was 4 years old she'd go through a field of rabbits to get to a fox on the other side, and also hunted them by scent until she put them up.........as good as any fox hound on a warm scent.

A friend of mine had a 3/4 cross from DH.It was sent overto the states withe a 3/4berdie boarder cross and the dogs grew up together. The Berdie had some stamina but lacked the "kill" of the other dog. Now we all Know 1 dog you cant base a solid opinion on but I liked the B/B cross alot better out of those two.

She wasn't to bad on the long ears either if I remember right Skycat. Though she lacked that top gear of an all out coursing dog.

Have you got any pics of Seeker, I'd love to see her again.
