stealthy1 3,964
Falcongit bought one, we took it out on my permission, I thought it was a class little gun, can't remember if it was 1.77 or .22, but it was accurate Quote Link to post
Tanican 24
My BSA Ultra wins my mates Rapid Mk 2 and other mates HW100 almost every time we go out and have a little competition between us all. I'm not saying its more accurate so please don't take the lamb to the slaughter, and non of us are brilliant shots, we are all average, but what I am saying is it can easily match the Rapid MK 2 and the HW100. I was going to sell it and buy a HW100, as I find the HW100 a better rifle than the Rapid, but I don't think there is any reason now and am just enjoying it. Its funny though as my mates are thinking of selling their rifles and buying the new BSA Ultra SE after trying one of them at the game fair. Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Accurate little gun, just the mark 1 had a loading system similar to the hokey cokey and was a damned pain in the backside. 1) Press side switch! 2) Catch bolt that leaps back before it goes clack scaring everything off or snapping in two (they do have a habit of doing that or the bolt release button breaks, made out of a crap alloy)! 3) Load pellet if single shot and press bolt forward. 4) Move left hand to actuate MMC system, which usually requires pulling back like hell as none matched the ease of use that was demonstrated on the BSA video. 5) Lose target during this malarky and aim again! 6) Find what you were shooting has either died laughing or peed off somewhere else to tell it's mates! I had a brand new single shot Ultra for 3 weeks, during which time I grew to hate it so much we sold it back to the gun shop I bought it from and bought a secondhand BSA Super 10 instead. The gun was powerful, accurate, I just hated that damned loading/cocking system! Edited December 2, 2013 by secretagentmole Quote Link to post
Bendover 67
Or you could complete steps 1-3 at your leisure and only complete step 4 when you are ready to take your shot? It's hardly rocket science! 1 Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Mine went back to BSA twice for leaking seals and I grew a beard trying to load it. When it worked and I eventually managed to load a pellet, it was actually ok, but I still sold it! Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
He has problem with ultra, he is like a broken record he goes on and on and on and on and on ,like you said its not rocket science Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
I don't have a problem with the Ultra, just the MMC mechanism, the movement needed is not micro for a start more like a bleeding inch, a folded bipod will obscure it completely so you have to mount a bipod back to front. Just a mare of a system that would have been do much better if it was designed like the SE, bolt operated. It was accurate, did what it said on the tin, only I did not like some of the ingredients. When you are used to a Super 10 bolt, the MMC is backwards beyond belief! Quote Link to post
andy97 209
ive just bought a multi shot conversion kit seems to work very well doesnt really take that long to load Quote Link to post
milesy75 8
I bought the BSA Ultra SE, 2.2 in May this year. I'm using the multishot mag at the moment, an finding easier than fumbling around for pellets to reload! I had a perfect 60yard headshot on a rabbit, which amazed me considering the size of the gun. I only had 100lb of pressure left in it too!!! Absolute pearl of a gun I think... and the only advice I can think of giving, is go buy as many multishot mags as you can afford, fill them up and go catch them bunnies! Quote Link to post
