May Have f****d Up

be fine , me hawk swallowed a rabbits lower leg bone whole the other day after picking it clean of meat, I honestly thought this gunna end bad, like bone poppin out her crop, but no hassle, stomach acids soon sort it out , dogs do it all time, I got pups here 8 weeks been eating raw meaty bones since five week old, best thing for um

gave the pup some chicken thighs, there was one still had bone in it and shes swallowed the lot.. anyone else been in a similar situation, any advice would be appreciated

 

In that situation every day.....and so should you be....flesh and bone.... :thumbs: That's the way it has to be.... :thumbs:

Should be OK, but I'd watch out for giving very young pups weight bearing-bones, such as thigh bones. Better to stick to wings, though any bone may cause a problem if the pup isn't used to them. If in doubt, smash bones with a hammer before feeding to young pups. Let them chew on larger bones that they have no chance of swallowing lumps off: such as beef rib bones. Once they have their adult teeth to grind bones up I'd still stick to non weight-bearing bones, and you have to watch out for dogs that will swallow big lumps without chewing. Most dogs can dissolve bones in their stomachs, but there's always a risk involved. I feed bones every day, but occasionally a dog will vomit up something it cannot digest. That's good, but watch out for dog straining while trying to crap, especially if the dog doesn't pass anything except drops of fluid.
