What Calibre ? Shooting At Night With Lamp

hi all , looking to get a air rifle that will mostly be used at night with a scope mounted lamp mainly rabbits and the occasional rat ,still undecided as to whether pcp or spring ( depends how much i get for my birthday ) .

 

my question is what would be the best calibre to get , a shop near me has a bsa superstar in .25 would this be anygood

 

any advice welcome

the 25 would be devastating at close range but going at 12ft lb would prefere a 22 cal and do everything with it

at night I find it a lot harder to guesstimate ranges , as do a lot of people. so the trajectory of a .25 would be very challenging !

 

I would say .177 personally for lamping. but I have quite succesfully lamped with my .22 pcp

.177 pcp for me but I have had just as many with .22 . I don't know what your shooting experience is with air guns but night time shooting is a different kettle of fish !!

thanks guys , i have been shooting for a few years on and off , never had a pcp or done shooting with a lamp but fed up of sitting in of an evening with crap on telly .
