Shooting Isurance

Recommended Posts

I think you're covered more or less straight away unless there's some reason to refuse you. You could always ring for confirmation of membership.

From memory it was a couple of weeks to get the membership stuff but that was from several years ago for me - I fell out with the BASC after the Pigeon and Pest Shooting debarcle.

BTW too late now but SACS do give you legal cover - unlike the BASC I understand they pay for specialist solicitors instead of in-house advice. I'm sure Paulus could confirm the exact benefits.

I think the cheapest of the organisations is:   http://www.sacs.org.uk/   and you don't have to be Scottish!   £35 per year plus you get the other benefits.

In terms of the SACS insurance, I've had a look on their website and can't see if it also covers target / range shooting. Would be handy to know when comparing against BASC or renewing my CA membership.

Does any current member have any info or a view on this please?

thanks.

Just give them a phone and ask the only thing im aware of just now is if its a paying job that invalidates the current offer

Cool, more than happy to give them a buzz but was a bit busy yesterday and thought I'd put the feelers out to the member base / posters on here. I'll give them a buzz on Monday and hopefully they'll cover me down the ranges too. If they will then I'll sign up and even more of a bonus if I can take advantage of the discount negotiated with this site.

cheers.

If they wont cover ranges, BASC will. They cover all recognised shooting disciplines, as hobby. So not paid. This will cover you on the range.

Yeah, they seem to have pretty comprehensive cover a la the Countryside Alliance I'm with at the moment (well, technically expired last night). If they don't then BASC is my alternative.

Paulus, I'm very grateful for your attention on this. Excellent to have the confirmation as work has been rather busy and I still hadn't had the chance to call them.

I'll get back on to join after i've put the little one to bed. Only fair after you went to the effort on my behalf.

Lovely stuff.

Done and dusted. Just signed up and looking forward to receiving the details.

did you quote the hunting life club and receive the discount?

I submitted the club app online and the only relevant space I saw to enter 'The Hunting Life Club' was in the 'Company' field of the application. Didn't think too much of the application process to be honest but it was functional and facilitated my app and payment. They took the £26 but I haven't received anything back from them to confirm this, just a paypal receipt.

If they don't confirm things during normal business hours and it presents an issue for them I can always ask them to refund the money and pop across to BASC who were my backup anyway.

I don't foresee an issue but it's always good to have a backup plan...After all, that's what insurance is all about haha
