TOMO 26,064 Posted November 24, 2013 Report Share Posted November 24, 2013 If your being paid properly as a contractor then you need 20 quid an hour minimum ,,,,don't charge per rabbits,,, Now personally in your situation ,,, I would do like the others have mentioned above,,, 50 quid in your hand ,, crate of beer ,, bacon butties and lashing of tea,,,, provided of course you know the people,,, or there friends of friends,,, If there total strangers,,, and got a few bob,,, play it by ear,,, cos if they get a pro company in they will be paying a minimum of what I put above... These garden jobs can be fun,,,, but you don't want taking advantage of by somebody looking for a freebie ,,,, Oh and if you do do it,,, make sure there dogs are locked up,,,cats too,,, in fact any pets or livestock 2 Quote Link to post

I am fortunate to have 3 outlets as in Butchers who i charch £2 -£3 depending on size. Also a few pet shops too. Many buy rabbits for their reptiles charging about £10 a rabbit...Incredible!!!!! Probably have got around £70 for that lot however in your case getting paid what happens to the rabbits afterwards can you keep or do they? Quote Link to post

X amount per field or hedge? It varies fellah.. Some lads round here charge for ferreting/night shooting,.by the acre. They work out a financial agreement, with several Farmers/Estate owners and elect to clear as many rabbits off the land as they can,..over a given period of time. I used to do it like that,.but nowadays, I prefer to be paid, 'per day' and have to mix in the rabbiting work with the Springtime mole trapping' The wasp nest business helps us out, during the summer months....thank feck.. The best payers for me, have always been owners of large country houses. These folk invariably love their gardens and will not tolerate rabbit damage. When treating such enclosed areas, you are unlikely to kill rabbits by the score,..(although I have taken a few 30s and 40s out of someones back yard),..but, it is more usual to clear out a dozen or so..Facts are, a dozen rabbits grazing and digging, on a tight and tidy lawn,.will often have the owner in a right old state...SO,...they must pay... I still have a few regular contracts, for controlling pests in woodland/forestry blocks and although the rabbiting is often awkward and frustrating,.the clients are well aware of this and pay accordingly. As for payment,..one has to be realistic.. Fun is fun, and sport is sport,.but work is work...and it is sensible to take into account your travelling expenses, possible stay overs and a fair remuneration for a full days clearance and ferreting. Rabbiting for wages,.is a job and you have to think along those lines,.and not get your thoughts and feelings muddled up with going to prime locations and bagging up,. on a ton of bolters...
