Also what size barrel swivel do they tend to like ?

probably a 16 mm barrel swivel on the 80 not sure tho, never had one myself

as for the scope mate, I don't know, it was mounted on the used 97k I bought last night.

its in the shooting supplies box right now tho.

I might put the hawke sport from the 77 onto the 97

and then either iron sights or the hawke airmax on the hw77.

or sell the airmax, but not sure yet, want to try it out first seems a nice little scope.

as for the Sandwell tune, you would be best ringing and asking about the work they do and prices over the phone,

what 80 did you end up getting then, silencer or open sights.? brand new or used..?

get a few pics on here mate :D

Hi mate.

The easiest and best option is to send it to either of the pros mentioned above if you have not done this sort of thing before.

I've worked my way up from fettling to doing a full tune on my 80 and its fiddly but very enjoyable.

The pros can grind down and button the piston, size the cylinder, port the transfer port, fit a top quality piston seal, upgrade the barrel shims, line your piston, fit good quality spring guide and top hat, fix the guide to your end block, fit a top quality main spring and tune up the record trigger so it shoots beautifully.

I've done this to my 80 and its currently sitting a 17 fpe (FAC) and lovely to shoot with a little recoil and no muzzle flip.

I can stick a pellet on the scope turret and it stays on 9 times out of ten, occasionally slips off as there is still a small kick compared to when I have in my spare sub 12 fpe spring.

It almost has no recoil in sub 12 and is amazingly accurate when I'm not pulling or bodging the shot in some way.

I love this old gun and will be passing it on to my kids when its time to plant me out with the spuds.

Btw if anyone tries to tell you its a heavy brute insist that they stand in a corner and repeat 'I'm an idiot for that statement' 10 000 times then resume the air rifle discussion with the adjusted air gunner.

Best of luck with the legendary 80:thumbs:

Hi mate.

The best way of doing this is to take it to a shop such as SFS and get them to either do it or demo it for you to see how its done.

Its not difficult but its easy to make the gun unsafe if you slacken the adjuster screw too much.

I have a hole in my garage roof that's testimony to this.

I had slackened the screw too much and when I released the safety catch the 80 fired without me touching the trigger.

I started writing the procedure but deleted it pal as it is best to actually be standing next to whoever is doing the demo.

I'll see how I'm sorted for making a wee video on the subject soon.

I'm up to my eyes at the moment but will try and sort something mate.
