Guest SJM Posted September 12, 2007 Report Share Posted September 12, 2007 A mate of mine has been on about this, he used to have his patterdale and spaniel pups docked up until the ban but now he has to leave the tails on as he could lose everything, being a keeper his guns - job - house are all tied in, all it would take is for one person to stick him in and he would lose the lot, he says its just not worth having it done anymore. Some of the pups seem to have naturally short and stand-uppish tails, whereas others have the type that curl up and over the back, needless to say the latter dont seem to be as popular with working dog folk, but if jail is the alternative, I think hes sensible in leaving them on Quote Link to post Share on other sites
redmoor 0 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Share Posted September 12, 2007 We are still seeing puppies that are docked..some clients dont even know that its banned..recently we saw Yorkie, Boxer and OES pups...i dont think it will ever fully stop. I thought the law in England and Wales was that if you could prove the pups were going to be working dogs you could still have them docked? Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Yes thats true, you can get a vet to do them if you can prove they will be working dogs, usually they want to see a SGC or such, they then issue you with paper work Quote Link to post Share on other sites
