Ferret Cam

Recommended Posts

I've always wondered what it looks like in the ferrets eyes under ground working the rabbits I seen a clip on YouTube of Simon whitehead using one but he's hush hush about does anyone use one or used one and where would you be able to pick one up

They made out as if simon was the first one to put a camera on a ferret, yet gordon ramsay did it ages ago on the fword

I remember in the comments section on the Simon Whitehead video someone said he was keeping the design secret as he plans to market them at some time.

It aint rocket science...........He's deluded if he thinks someone couldnt knock one up in a day or two.

I'm in the process of mounting an led into a collar I fancy night ferreting

Ive thought of a similar Idea, that's idiot proof to put together.. Both components available from any tackle shop. A small isotope and some clear heat shrink tube. Pop the collar, then the isotope into the heat shrink, making sure the `tope is on the outside of the collar, and everything is central, then shrink in hot water! Its small, you shouldn't lose it and it doesn't need a power supply or soldering..

There's no need for lights on a collar for night ferreting,, or even fishing starlights,,,provided you go when there's a good bright moon,, you will see the ferrets come out...

You can get some good scores going at night,,,on land that ordinarily you can't get on ;) for whatever reason.... Not to mention of course,, your out when normaly you wouldn't be lamping or longnetting

Yeah I know Tomo, but it don't matter how bright and clear it is if you working bramble by night or even worse - with poleys. I haven't got any nice flat clear ground.

I don't know if you know this but, a Isotope is much smaller than a starlite and it lasts years instead of hours, so it would be a maintenance free, fit it and go set up, also not being as bright, stealthier than an led.

Feck doing brambles at night,,,lol,,,, mind come to that I'm not keen in the day,,,, I much prefer my open sets,,,, always good to get on to that parkland,, on those clear nights,,,

I know a mate who takes in rescue ferrets and he had one handed in that had a collar on with a micro camera fitted with a micro sd card. He watched all the footage but it was,nt fitted with infrared so just went dark when the ferret enter the depths of the warren. He was going to stick the footage but the owner came forward to claim his ferret so did,nt realease the footage on youtube

I am working on a camera for ferreting, for the same reason that I want to know what really goes on underground.

the trouble is finding something that has night vision and is low cost.

I have found various video cameras which are small enough and cheap enough but without night vision.

I am just researching thermal imaging, so will keep you in touch.
