Mr Wilkes 3,061
moxy, the best chicken I ever ate was a pure Indian game. they were very slow growing which imo added to the flavour. they were fed on wheat and corn(maize).. non of that growers/fattener shit that most use. they have to have space tho ..free range is better.

OLD GOAT 6
I Keep around to 100 a year, all of them are cross bred, they have a very big grass paddock, feed them wheat & old bread from the bakers soaked in whey ( we have a goat farm,so the whey is a waste product from our cheese making ! ), they all get to about 2.2 Kg upto 2.6 kg max after 15 weeks. We sell 20 to 30 which pays for the wheat,we save a fortune this way !!

Yokel Matt 918
ginnie fowl bar far the tastiest Tasty for sure but christ can they can make a noise - Light Sussex lay well and can reach a reasonable weight. Having helped pluck & pull 120 turkeys last week i can't say i'm overcome with joy at the thought of one of them tomorrow either. Did some Ross's last week as well, some of which had green ankles which I guess you would do if you got to 11 / 12lb that quick. A lot of maize grown round here - I go round the fields with hessian potato sacks on a dry day and bag up left over cobs for the fattening ration, often a good flat patch at the gateway where the farmer / contractor has got the equipment ready or at the corners. Pheasant breasts and a little leg meat Pigeon breasts in the centre. Homemade coarse to smooth pork mince, breadcrumb, garlic, sage and onion stuffing. Between layers and to fill the gaps. All sewn up and topped with smoked streaky bacon. Have a good one folks.
