I did, had £2600 back of them.. have a look at a site called penaltycharges

I got £600 back off the Halifax via the Financial Ombudsman service, they refused first time round but the FO sent me an appeal form and they gave me back every penny of charges in the end - result

 

Im sure I read an article on one of the hunting forums recently about bank charges and there not being much time left to claim them back or something to that effect, I will see if I can find it for you

I would imagine you can , if they pinch ya money then they should be made to pay it back

i got £789 back from hsbc, they done it straight away, no problem

i got £750 back . do it through the fianacal ombudsman , they do it all for you its just a 5 min phoncall .

 

its all on smoochers how to do it.

i have herd though , that the banks are now being taken to a europeian court . and they are now NOT dealing with any refunds till they loose this case.

 

of course if they win nobody wiil get owt back in the futre.

My bank have put a total hold on any repayments pending a test case which is apparently going through the courts at the moment.

We are using a company to clain the money back they owe us £2.500 what the banks dont say is theres a ''hardship form'' you can request & fill in we did this & have had a return letter from Barclays sayig our claim is being dealt with

 

Barclays sent us 6 yrs worth of bank statements them we forwarded them on to the company we are using,they phoned me giving an amount +interest they owed us & in 1 24 hours period Barclays charged our current account £ 230 in charges,

 

So the banks can afford to pay back all the money they stole of us & others there nothing but a bunch of wankers

May be a silly question, but why is everyone paying charges on their current accounts ?, i can understand that i used to get charges on my business account when i was with crappy barclays but i have never been charged on my private current account, and now i bank with abbey i dont pay any charges at all.

these charges are relay penalties are for going over overdraft limits(£25 every five days your over drawn), unpaid direct debits(£30), sending you letters to tell you you have gone over draft (£20) bounced cheques (£25)

theses are the prices as on the back of my statement

 

i recently got charged for going over my over draft on the same day money went in so i got charged £25 pounds for 3 Min's as the money went before the money came in i rang them and this was refunded instantly as they say it was a mistake but i bet i wouldn't of got it back if i didn't complain

But customers who have been charged up to £40 for unauthorised overdrafts, bounced cheques, or failed direct debits are fighting back against bank charges.

 

Banks have long been accused of ripping off customers with the high charges they impose for minor account problems. Complaints against banks have soared, according to the Banking Code Standards Board, with most about interest rates and unfair charges.

 

 

Customers who slip into minor difficulties can see a mountain of debts pile-up, as banks charge £20 or more to send a letter and charge large amounts for going into overdrafts and missing direct debits.

 

 

However, there is a way to reclaim unfair charges from the banks and thousands of people are using it to fight back.

 

For the moment banks have been given the right to put bank charges reclaim complaints on hold by the Financial Services Authority while the outcome of a test case is sought by the Office of Fair Trading and banks.

 

The advice to those who feel they have been charged unfairly is to continue putting claims in however, as it is only possible to go back six years and they may miss out on refunded charges if they wait. Also most banks have set up specific bank charges refund departments and some may continue to refund charges on a case by case basis.

 

If you are in genuine financial hardship, the banks will still have to consider your case and the FSA waiver does not apply.

I know a few people who have gotten there bank charges back but the banks have now closed there accounts and will no longer do business with them.
