Look we all have a dig at england because yes should be doing better but only one team wins a world cup so expecting england to win the thing is harsh, taking a chance like pushing up high and playing youngers with skill and disire to do well like townsend is in my view the best chance we have, whether you like it or not gerrard snd lamps are past their best leg wise so always on the back foot in that.

I was at the game last night it amazes me the amount of fans turning on the team......we,ve qualified for the finals easily.........been playing some decent stuff lately.........but because we go and lose a game to a similar placed team its panic time.......makes me laugh the way some people have this ridiculous overeaction any time we lose a game !

 

Look at France.......one of the most succesful nations in recent times,world cup winners,runners up and twice semi finalists all in the last 25 years...............yet now look like they are not even going to qualify !!...................We won it once near 50 years ago and we start having a meltdown because we lost a friendly !

I used to love following England you would be surrounded by fans of lower league clubs mostly genuine and loyal fans......nowadays there seems to be too many of the glory hunter types following England the type who cant wait to slag our game off if we lose.

 

We are not the best and not the worst..................just like the other 95% of sports teams and sportsmen !!

i suppose gnash , what came home to me last night, when we had to play (quite) a good side.We were not good enough, and thats the bottom line mate. Like isaid once world cup kicks off,and the decent teams start to play, england we be coming home early.Lets face it it was only couple of young lads played last night, and you got to give them a go no prob with that. But you could see that england were out played all over the pitch. So he brings on more experience players, to (try) and turn the game round, and that didnt work either, drop another goal. No mate england done well to get to the world cup, but once the play decent team, they are exposed for what there are 2nd rate team at a (higher level) football, and thats it in a nutshell.! and the young players coming through were the worry to me, they just aint good enough .And you only can play with what you got out there.

Said it for a while now no gazza to make a run make a dribble do a flick thats does work amd score goals sadly gerrard and lamps aint that, and before you pool fans start gerrard is a great player with different qualitys.

I agree with all of that, we are second rate....I've said it for years.

I am as patriotic as they come but I have to talk real about my football and England play like an SPL team.

The players are playing week in, week out in the strongest league in the world neat to the top players in the world but as soon as they pull on a white shirt it all go's out the window ( and I'm not talking about this particular game as I didn't watch it because I don't bother watching England very much)........prime example was that game against Germany, the budesliga isn't exactly strong but the German went through England like they were not even there.......they just tore us to bits........there's no belief, no grit and we run out of ideas around 50 minutes and start hoofing it.

 

They are definitely not a top echelon international side and that's a fact IMHO

Bird i think your wrong we can play better we have played better, but england look so slow even on the break they seem slow but hey lets keep hope we can find a few gems..

In all fairness you can't read too much into friendly games, no professional player gives a shit about them......they are like pre season, your just playing to get used to each other and let the manager try out a few players and things

 

Whatever happens against Germany, you can bet in a real game they would take us to bits.
