Ideation 8,216
I've never really had any need to inform the police of my movements. . . . . but I know there are a few on here that do. . . . so thought i'd ask . . . I've recently got a chunk of permission in the middle of some really hot land. . . . that's plaugued at times, by poachers, the 4x4 crews etc. Stock have been killed etc etc. . . . . so everyones a bit jumpy about lamping. Before I go, i've got to call the farms that I have permission on, but also the neighboring farms that I don't, so they know it's me. Despite this . . . . .there is a good chance that some one i've missed or just a passer by, will call the police. . . . . Now, I don't want to upset the farmers who have just given me perm, by getting them woken up by a call from the police. . . . . so I was thinking it might be a good idea to call the police in advance? So my question is. . . . does it actually work, and who do you call, and what do you ask for? Cheers all. Jai. Quote Link to post
jack2o 45
wondered about this myself never having done it.maybe the local poaching or wildlife crime officer if you have one.im assuming thats who they send if they get reports of people or vehicles suspected of poaching. dusk til dawn 169
your going to get a certain amount of shit no matter what you do , I hope iam wrong but if it is a hot spot get the most out of it while you can. I wouldn't phone the bizzies before hand, but when they come and you've sorted it all out with them about having permission, you might get a more direct number to ring before you go again IF you get a half civil one. good luck Quote Link to post
BIGLURKS 874
I know a couple of rifle boys that do call them they still get stoped every now and then they give you a number them they have too go on the radio and cheack Quote Link to post
Huan72 687
If its that bad, stock being killed etc, there is a fair chance that the old spy in the sky may well be around from time to time, some forces have a country watch section so it may be worth a call. Once the fact that your legit is on the old computer system it will come up in any checks that they may do on your registration plate. Quote Link to post
R.A.W 1,987
Do you carry the permission letter with you ? If so show them the letter with a copy of you driving licence . If there unhappy with that explain the situation and ask them to verify it in the morning. but will the copper see the common sense in that ? 1 Quote Link to post
moonlighter 1,164
If you take a rifle then your suppose to inform the police but its a ball ache! You'll be in the phone for a while. They want all your details, you gun details, the car details, the land details, who's going with you and then you've got to call them when you get home!! Quote Link to post
Tyla 3,179
I've never needed to but know people who do. It's simple enough, ring 101, give them the names of the farms you are working and your name and they give you an incident number. It wont stop them checking you out if they get a chance but it will speed things up when they do. Quote Link to post
sikastag_1 689
One of the estates I was on we phoned in every time and told them we were going to be lamping and left our name and number, then if anyone does call they could phone you and ask if its you or if they need to check it out, we never got any bother but we phoned them every time anyway. Ideation 8,216
Excellent. The next question is . . . . . . do you think it makes it more likely that they will come and check you out? Quote Link to post

socks 32,253
Its simple you ring 101 tell them what your doing and where your going to be ... they inform the relevant police force and when somebody rings to report a light they know its you so don't bother coming out ... Obviously every force is different but I have never had a problem doing this and I have to do it on a weekly basis ....... 2 Quote Link to post
