What Type?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone just wanted to ask people more knowledgeable than myself. I have a terrier I use for ratting and I do a lot off shooting aswell but I'm very interested in getting a lurcher. The areas I hunt aren't wide open fields they'd be mostly uneven ground and not massive by any stretch. I was just wondering what type off dog would suit this ground and be able for all legal quarry in Ireland. I quite like wheaten crosses myself. Thanks in advance for all replies.

A quick nippy type with a good drop of whippet, or a small type greyhound in should be ok, ground sounds same as what's local to me if I go for a quick wander

Whippet x pug lol. I might aswell bring the kids boxer!!! Thanks for the other replies lads. Is there many whippet x wheatens about have any off yous used them. I want a dog that'll be fit to run the type off ground on my permissions regularly and suit the terrain so injuries would be kept to a minimum.

as said mate if you like Wheaten crosses get one I know a couple of lads with them and there good dogs. first cross or 3/4 hound 1/4 Wheaten both good types and well able for all quarry we have here in Ireland just make sure its from working dogs. Wheaten crosses can lack a bit in stamina and need to be kept fit but when they are fit you wont go wrong.
