GEEK THREAD ALERT...........

Terry Pratchett discworld series,i haven,t read a bad book in the series, bit controversial but i read The Lord Of The Rings and i thought they went on a bit long.

The Lord of the rings films were good plus there was no bombadil episode(just what was the point of this part in the book??) also it does miss a lot of the emotion the books convey, old tree beard was

The Pagans, The Penal Colony and Refuge: all by Richard Herley. Very good writer indeed: Penal Colony is futuristic survival on an island prison. Refuge is a post-apocalyptic tale of survival. The Pagans is set in the Stone Age. I've got them all on my Kindle, along with another 300 odd books, mostly post-apocalyptic survival. The good thing about Kindle is that you can read a few page on Amazon before buying, as well as reading the reviews.

I've finished reading the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series of books and The Winds of Winter dosen't look like it will be released anytime soon, I've also read the "The Hedge Knight" trilogy so what series of books or book would any of you recommend reading.

I'm open to any genre of books aslong as they're interesting and a good read.

Ill take a look at them as well. If you have a e reader, SM Reine has written several series of urban fantasy books, the first 3 are available as a boxed set for free.

Nicky Charles has written a series of werewolf books, all of which are free.

I'm currently reading the 2nd book in Jason Born's Wald series. Its about the Roman conquest of Germania, and the subsequent loss of the legions under Varus.

The discworld books by Terry Pratchett are real good John.. They are based on old folklore, a dash of Toilken here and there, a few satires of modern life (politics, multiculturism) and a shit load of humour! There's over 30 books altogether divided up into arcs of certain characters which sometimes overlap with each other. Should keep you busy until GGRM gets on and finishes The Winds of Winter.. I'm hanging waiting for it..

I recommend that you give The Running Man a try, it's a great read far better than the film and also give the Hunger Games Trilogy a look they are a fantastic set.

I've done them, wa  s really surprised by the Hunger series tbh........good reads.

I've settled on the discworld series for now and I've got this thread for reference to try more after.
