Its difficult enough to find a good working Bedlington, never mind a Wheaton, in my 45 years of hunting dogs, ive never seen a Wheaton working, then i don't even think ive seen a Wheaton, must have led a sheltered life. chrisbullx 2,541
Exactly countryjoe because you never seen 1 doesn't mean they dont exist & the wheatonxs you have seen lads must be bred from rubbish or rough coated lurchers claiming to be wheatonxs atb cbx Quote Link to post

Country Joe 1,411
Chris if you read my post, I did not say they didn't exist, I said I have never seen one working, maybe Ireland is the place to find them. 1 Quote Link to post
paulus 26
not looking at getting into a heated discussion but i struggle to get my head around these wheaten crosses, if you take the bull cross then most people can name a good few first crosses that for whatever reason achieved enough fame for their names to be remembered and lines of today attributed to them, but i can not remember never mind name one wheaten first cross, so my thinking is. if there were no first crosses that were good enough to make some sort of name for themselves then where do all of todays wheaten crosses come from Quote Link to post
chrisbullx 2,541
I know good few lads with genuine 1stx wheatengreys & 2nd,3rd gen 1/2xs that keep themselves to themselves paulus they leave they dogs do the talking in field & keep the line between close & trusted friends, the grandsire to my wheatonx pup was a 1stx wheatongrey & killed over 500+ foxes in 4 season preban with a good mate of mine who lamped with his owner at the time so you tell me a is that dog not good enough to breed from??? Atb cbx Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
Cb its horses for courses, if you had said 500 Rabbits I would have been interested, but to tell you the truth, after 45 years of Hunting Ive never caught a Fox with a Lurcher, just aint interested. So that number would mean nothing to me, especially if I was looking for a stud Dog. But then I suppose its what ever floats yer boat. I have bred dogs that have, but they were with other owners.
