Travel Sickness

Recommended Posts

My lurcher pup blade suffers or seems to be suffering from travel sickness !

On very short journeys he is ok but anything over ten mins he is sick?

He sits or lies down and is other wise well behaved in the motor.

Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to solve it thanks in advice mark

My pup was pretty bad, had him on the back seat, front seat, made no difference.

Then on ebay I bought an aluminium dog carrier. fits in the rear.

first time in it, sickness stopped, and none since I bought it.

This can be a common problem for young dogs as they can get nervous and anxious more so than adult dogs. The carriers are ideal as the dog can feel secure in the car. Drooling and foaming at the mouth are signs of travel sickness.

Thanks every one I'm going to start taking him out every night just round the block, but will every one updated,

I give my JR antihistamine for nettel stings before we go out , would travel sickness tablats help or keep away from them?

I tried everything with my Whippet, feeding in car, short runs ,you name it I tried it, Vet did not think it was travel sickness but a car phobia.

and the only thing that worked was the crate in the back of the car.

He went to drooling after a few mins, to being perfectly settled after a journey,

Have to say, he still hates the car, and would not jump in on his own.

Ive got a 2yr old Russell bitch that doesn't travel well. She`s been in the car 1000`s of times, long trips, short trips.. The only thing that helps, is a dark confined space, like the boot. Even then, shes sick sometimes. Got to make sure she`s had a shite too.. As Joe has said, I guess some dogs just don't like it, never will.

Sounds like yours was bad Joe, mine will quite happily jump in the back seat or boot, cos they know whats coming, but a couple of minutes on the road and shes starts showing signs of stress. My Pat loves it, sits nice and steady in the passenger seat just looking and sniffing out the window, chalk and cheese the two of them.
