artful212 394
Hunting is bred into you, see these guys who take up hunting, get a dog, they always seem to be the ones who shout the loudest, will get bored with it and move on. Use excuses like, got a family, got married etc. see the real dogmen, they're the ones who have it coursing through their veins. We all get days when we can't be arsed but you take a break abroad etc, your itching to get back out. I started with fishing then ferreting then dogs, but I served my time as game carrier, it was the way back then. Begging to go with the older lads, them letting you cos they knew you'd carry the rabbits. Next trip you were back at them to take you again. When you finally got your own dog, you were so proud of it. It could have been the biggest pile of shit going about but it was yours. You learned off each other through mistakes, the bond was strong. It wasn't like today where technology means you have the choice of hundreds of dogs, you got what was available, local. If I get a pup it's here for life, none of that it was too head strong pish, that's a cop out. We are in a buy, bin, replace world now and sadly that includes the modern 'dogman'. Changed days from when I was a lad nearly describes me although no one in my family hunted Quote Link to post

A quick search proves your right, ,their dogs look in great Nick, they are polite on here, and use proper words nd sentences, not like some of the little shits that come on here winding people up asking daft questions and just using their ill treated terrier or lurcher to kill or injure other animals.that's more alike to baiting than hunting. 4 Quote Link to post
TheLurcherBoy 69
Your asking a question about passing dogs around when you've already passed a dog on because "it was to head strong" sometimes good things in life don't just happen and you need too put the work in and have some patience , which you obviously couldn't be arsed doing. Surely that's a bad owner? We've all had head strong dogs, maybe if you had a bit more dedication to the game and experience you would have overcame it. i was 12 and a dog that growls and trys to bully ya dosnt belong in my house... ive a 2/3 brother?? couldnt be arsed putting time into a dog? i come home from school at 5 and walk my bitch for 2/3hours and then 30mins training dont start mouthing if ya dont know what your on about!! The lad could have been badly advised and ended up with a heart breakingly head strong dog for a first time animal. Rehoming it may well have been best for both man and beast. yep.. was told her was live to hand but would tear rabbit apart and growl at me when i was taking them off him snapped once or twice so had to go! Some of the best dogs iv clapped eyes on have been head strong feckers and not just lurchers, He asked about dog men, IMO I think a good dog man should try his hardest to overcome the challenge he's got and reep the rewards when it all clicks, wanted too much too soon I think, failed the dog in training, who knows but he got rid of a young dog, he's only 15 he said so like you said maybe bad mentoring or bad advice, either way me personally even at 15 i would have been a bit more dedicated but that's just me and my outlook on it, I think we both probably know deep down it wasn't the dogs fault. he said he's 15 now and has his dog 2 years that would mean he was 12 or 13 when he rehomed his first dog. a very head strong dog would be to much for most 13 year olds so give the lad a break. you never saw the dog or the young lad so you cant say anything about his dedication. yep was 12 got dog when he was 2/3 year old at paid €100 for him and he was suppose to be live to hane but he would tear rabbits apart and growl at me.... got into dogs myself at 10/11 begged for a dog and after a year got one but just some lad thought it would be funny to sell a young lad shite.....
