Are you going to take him out on the lamp at all ? If so get a couple soft toys and cut the reflective strip off a hi viz jacket and stitch it to the toy only has to be rough and throw them flick the lamp on so he sees it goes after it and brings bk repeat this at further distances until happy then go out place toys without the dog get the dog and lamp the toys until he gets them all I read on a pup lamp training post online even if you don't intend to lamp it's great fun an the pup will love the new element of training/ play in the dark just grab a good size torch to save buying a lamp

Get them out I've had pups at that age marking burys, respecting nets.

Makes more sense getting them out in the countryside crossing country seeing stock ect ect being with you and ferrets, than you going out for a few hours then coming back and taking the pup for a walk around the park, throwing a dummy around your garden.

for me, every pup is different and learns things and matures at a different rate, by all means get them accustomed to the sights and sounds of the countryside early, make pals with smelly's, learn a wee bit of obedience, respect the nets, seeing an adult dog picking up bolters, learning to mark etc but there's a world of difference between bringing a pup on to 6hrs in the cold with sometimes not a lot to do, best to do it in a lot of small steps that the pup whatever age can manage
