No matter what dogs they had they would be filling bags because dogs are fit and they get out... I bet there were are plenty doing the same without photos or internet,photos don't prove that much does it? Weren't the hares ran doubled up? Who's arse licking you plum?,all i'm doing is telling the truth about a pal and the dogs he's owned .But like i say tell us where he went wrong and i'll pass on your greater wisdom about his dogs .. I bothered posting because I enjoyed reading that thread more than most (threads). As far as I remember Aarons bitch was bred from dogs mostly of Andy's breeding. border lad 1,047 Posted November 11, 2013 Report Share Posted November 11, 2013 well Lads, here is one for you, I was the man who bred the dog, that went down to west cumberland, It was bred from a Wee bitch 23" collie whippet xgreyhound, the sire was a big rough dog about 26"+ the owner was the late Ted cooper, ((( in his later days owned a pet shop down Willow-holme Carlisle, Tinker killed more Hares you, than could ever imagine, she could hunt a field better than a springer spaniel, and carry her quarry back up into the van, she done so much running she was muscled bound in the back legs, ((( tracked leg))) her back legs could not pass each other she rocked from side to side, when walking, not the fastest bitch on the planet but very clever, and could stay, she was rising 4 years old when she was mated to Teds big ole dog, he was around 7 years old +, at first I was not keen on using Teds dog,(( he said the dog was first class took hare on any land, then he said if he was rubbish do you think he would have got to this age,, (( the dog who I intended to use was at the Waterloo cup, ((( beloNged to another OLD FRIEND,,SO the bitch had 7 pups, the pup that Landed down in West cumbria was given to Lad called Dodds, he got 6 months for GBH, his wife sold the pup on, and one Pup went to an old Mate, up in Wigtonshire, Jimmy he said his bitch was the best dog he ever saw behind a Hare, ((( I never kept a pup from that Litter I thought they were too small for the Hare and Deer job, Back in those days Cumbria had very few good lurchers, plenty of trail Hounds, fox hounds, greyhounds, whippets, but a good lurcher for the Hare, was like hens back teeth, this was about 1972, there was a photo of a rough haired fawn dog, stood about 23" was the double of the pup that Dodds got from me,((( andy put that one up on defunct "Hunters United" and Lads it means nothing to me about breeding those pups, its how they are reared, trained and entered, and then how much you can put in front of them, I will Put a photo of my present day dogs, (((( but both put to gether could not match the stuff Tinker "killed",and she was a great wee watch dog she would eat a stranger at night who come around the yard, 2 Quote Link to post
