terryd 8,573
Pinched the wifes cocker this morning I keep hoping he will be a useful marker and I think he is slowly catching on. I had him on a lead at the time which slowed him down enough to check over the holes properly. The first bit of woodland had been done by some one else by the look of it. Holes had been blocked with boulders for some reason and people had been digging. But I new of a set of holes tucked away in some cover so I went for a look. The cocker showed enough interest in one particular hole for me to be confident some thing was at home. Entered my hob which is still starting out and he was down for quite while then out the corner of my eye I saw a rabbit slowly edging into the net. I kept dead still and he finally lunged into the net and that was it for the morning. Nice bit of fun and the dog and ferret did well 1 Quote Link to post

terryd 8,573
Another one in the bag this morning. New bit of land for me and in full view of the house so I kept the cocker on a long lead so they didn't see him run around like a headless chicken. Soon as I stepped in the field two rabbits hopped in the hedge but the holes were too difficult on my own so I started walking a thinner bit of hedge row. A rabbit broke cover on the other side ran 20 yards and went to ground. I let the dog find the line and he ran around trying to find looking every where apart from the big hole right under his nose. Eventually he spotted the hole stuck his head in and gave a woof hardly perfect mark but better than nothing. Tried my inexperienced hob and after a couple thumps rabbit in the net which was a surprise cause the dog wouldnt shut up. By the time I got home i vowed to never take him again but after I calmed down I changed my mind. Unless I have company because I couldnt inflict him on any one else Quote Link to post

terryd 8,573
Nice one Terry, keep him at it mate he'll learn I hope so but I doubt he will ever stop squeaking and whining. Not his fault mind if he had been out from a pup 6 years ago he would be a cracker so eager to please. He is here till the day he dies so might as well keep at it as you say 1 Quote Link to post
