socks 32,253
If all the meat is off the bone then it can stay there for however long you want ............. Quote Link to post
Blackbriar 8,569
We generally take them away when they're small enough that the dog could choke if she tried to swallow it ! Quote Link to post
Joe67 239
the meat is gone, theres bits of fat left.. would take her a life time to chew this to make it small enough to choke on lol Quote Link to post

paulus 26
if they leave them their finished, depends on the bone to be honest, them with marrow inside take longer than those without Quote Link to post

turkish 289
I do get them and smash up all the bones and joints wit small hatchet dogs love all the marrow and thrive on them plus they find it easier to eat everything. Quote Link to post
russ2012 328
bones are great but be very careful some times they manage to break them one lodged in my bull terrier last month and it cost 400 to get removed didnt sh*t for a week got completely bound up 400 euro is a costly bone Quote Link to post
jeemes 4,484
big cow knuckle lol Thats the right sort. Dont feed that day and just give them 24hrs at most and then remove. Not all dogs will work them hard straight away but when they do it cleans teeth and works the jaw. My bullcrosses love big shin bones and will work on them for hours. Quote Link to post

After I got home they where the size of the dogs heads and they couldn't,t make anything of them only the lab bothered with hers the other two sat beside there's and growled when one of the other. Dogs passed them Quote Link to post
paulus 26
beef rib bones can be cut into manageable chunks, lamb backs are great as are shoulder bones, mine will munch anything i chuck to the to be fair, everything from venison offal to sheeps heads Quote Link to post
gnipper 6,484
Load bearing bones are the ones to avoid because they splinter. Necks and ribs I give (as a meal not a treat) mine and they eat the lot. Roasted bones like the pet shops sell are meant to be really bad too. Quote Link to post

Very occasionally wouldn't generally hurt, but puts a tremendous strain on the system, and for what? Much better to give hard rawhide chews to dogs that grind down bones into dust. Don't last as long of course, but less likely to clog up the digestive system. 1 Quote Link to post
