i have bought a few rabbit skins off ebay and i thought i'd have a go at making one myself... well i done a fair enough job of skinning and pegging it out!! then i cured it with cooking salt, after a few days it became as hard as a plank :doh: ... what else do i have to do with it???

Dis you flesh them properly, that means taking the " membrane" and the fat of the sikin before you put the salt on ?¿?

I skin and flesh the hide and then hang it ou in the wind for a few days ( 1 to 3 depending on the weather ) then rub it down with coarse salt and leave it to dry for another 2 to 3 days after that I can take all the time I want to tan it.

Keep in mind that I live in a hot place and today we had the first bit of drizzle since march. So a hair dryer would help a bit in your case.
