WILF 46,607
Should they have just plugged the dude and cracked on?......yes Should they have made a 5 minute song and dance about it on camera?.....no The law had little choice but to convict or you would have head bangers ironing out people on a whim which any way you look at it just can't be allowed to happen. Yeh but the head bangers are doing that anyways so it doesn't make that much difference. We our army/politicians are the ones making a song and a dance about it. The septics don't freak out when their drones accidentally take out a couple of houses of innocents do they? Its about time we got more realistics, we train these guys to kill and then we expect to be able to switch them of at the drop of a hat which is ludicrous. I feel sorry for the guy getting done, he is going to get more in prison than a real murderer or paedo I imagine. But our guys, be they nutcases or not, are not just cutting about wasting people right, left and centre are they?......that's bollocks. They are professional soldiers in a very bad situation being a shining example of training and self discipline aren't they?.........given the choice, I bet most of them wouldn't even entertain the idea of behaving like that......a very close friend of mine and some of his pals that I have met are some if the most level headed humane young blokes it has been my honour to spend time with and they have so far seen 2 tours. You don't hear them spouting all this gung ho, kill em all shite......they a professional men doing a professional job and conducting themselves to the highest standards. I am no fan of second guessing men we put in harms way but in this case the lads were idiots and left the court no other possible choice Edited November 8, 2013 by WILF
riohog 5,701
2 weeks with C Company 2 PARA in FOB Gibraltar gave me some of an idea. But no, I wasn't doing 40hr foot patrols or stagging on. CLPs weren't fun though. Just googled that as it wrang a bell................... 1 in 3 casualty rate! That sounds f*****g horrendous! Even if you were only attached to them for 2 weeks. the only fkn fighting he would have done in gib is in the naffi or the bars down the main drag
Blackbriar 8,569
And all this a couple of days before we commemorate those who have given their lives and those who have put themselves in harm's way, to keep us safe and free....................................... The irony isn't lost on me, anyway !

dare 1,103
If you knew what the f**k you were talking about you'd be dangerous dare. MI6 agents not getting their hands 'dirty', ffs they wrote the book on espionage! The precursor to the CIA was based on the British MI6! Couldn't last round your estate....... do me a favour Well why are these well spoken snobs allowing our country to her sued by known terrorists? I suspect like our mps they don't live in the real world. We have on the news at the moment us pointing the finger at someone we trust to defend our freedom as the bad guy. He shot someone who would of blown us to f**k. Stick your political correctness it's boring and half what got us in the mess in the first place. Some c**t who wanted our troops dead got killed in the wrong order? Ffs I'm not saying his a hero but less attention is given to this who actually profit from the war. It's this sort if bullshit that makes me know my kids won't ever join the army. We have homeless troops and c**ts burning poppies getting grands in benefits..if you'd let your kids die for that your a mug in my books
Born Hunter 17,751
Give over you're embarassing yourself. Like I said, you sleep sound at night because the 'snobs' working at our intelligence and security services do very nasty things in very dangerous places. They know how this world works better than any of us. These are the boys and girls that infiltrate the most dangerous terror cells in the world, they overthrow governments and pose as arms dealers on the black market. Down town Beirut is a playground to them and they'll go about the most dangerous work in the world often armed with nothing more than their exceptional mind. They work alongside our top special forces in collaborative operations. You think you can judge them because of their polished image when on camera, you're a fool, these people are the masters of image and manipulation.

dare 1,103
I'm not discrediting then because they speak well. I'm simply asking have they got their hands dirty? They look very clean and well spoken compared to the mates I know have signed up for the army. I think it's a joke were beig shed by a known terrorist and putting down marines mean while c**ts are burning poppies..I sure as hell know if I had a son I wouldn't let him sign up for the army. The irony isn't lost on me, anyway ! Not sure I understand. My grandwother told me about her dad and he was in the trenches in WW1. They captured some Germans and put them in part of the trench then when it got too much trouble they threw grenades in there and killed the lot of them. War is hell to coin a phrase....I haven't been there but I know people do crazy shit they wouldn't normally do. We shouldn't punish them for acting the way we trained them to be. I think it's a joke were beig shed by a known terrorist and putting down marines mean while c**ts are burning poppies..I sure as hell know if I had a son I wouldn't let him sign up for the army. For a start they're not in the Army. The armed forces come under the MOD, MI6 comes under the foreign office and MI5 comes under the home office. You won't find them on patrol in Hellmand like army infantry, infact you wont find them anywhere, they're too good for that. They gather intelligence and probably but certainly not confirmed are involved in direct action often alongside SAS, SBS & SRR. Read a bit about them and see if you think they get involved.... The marine broke the geneva convention and got caught, there isn't any defending that. We can't just say "f**k it the convention", the implications would be profound. Those marines f****d up, I don't think they did f**k all wrong really but they knew the law and f****d up, once it got out our Gov/MOD had no choice.
villaman 9,983
On topic, the Marine's actions were immoral and illegal. He has been found guilty and will face an appropriate punishment for it. Are you one of these do gooders ,which has made this country of ours shit .SHAME ON YOU The armed forces are doing there best to try and protect this country from this scum and you get twats like you saying its not legal ,Its a F*****g war not a rugby game . No, I'm not a do gooder, nor am I a twat. I'm well aware of the realities of conflict. Sorry if I offended you but this story makes my blood boil, it should not even got this far
