Any Computer Buffs - Card Reader Problem

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help out with a card reader problem i've got.

I purchased a cheap card reader online just to try out, Windows is recognising the card reader, but it wont read the files on the card i've got in the reader.

If i go into devices and printers, the card reader is there, if i right click to browse files it wont let me do it.

Also if i go into my computer the card reader is not showing up in there and it should be.

Anyone with Computer knowledge got any advice. It is plug + play.

Thanks

Right click on my computer, click "manage", than choose "disc management". Check if you can see it there. It may need a label change. Also take a look at it threw total commander. Some times in my computer not all devices are visible.

If you can't see it enywhere, than the card reader was probably too cheap :/

I have just followed these instructions below,

"Go to Start -> Computer -> Organize -> Folder and search options -> click View tab -> uncheck "Hide empty drives in the Computer folder" -> OK"

Card Reader is now showing in My Computer, but when i click on it to view the files, it is saying it is empty....????

If the computer sees the card reader, and card in it is not empty, than it's definitely the card reader what's not working properly.

I thought that, but the guy has sent me out a replacement and that is the same.

any chance of the card reader details perhaps the software is available on the net

It is plug and play, don't need software.

Just because the device is plug and pray, doesn't mean it doesn't need a driver/software, just that windows has a generic driver for it

Check the manufactures website to see if they have a download for the device.....

What is on the sdcard....?

If your sd card is a large capacity one and has the letters sdHC on it then it's probable that the card reader can't read it.

Check the card reader or the box it came in for the word sdHC.

Some cheap card readers don't support the high capacity cards.
