Dubba 72
yes its legal if not a little unwise Thank you Paulus. Guys I'm talking about a overgrown country track which is more of a green lane but is still classified as a public highway. I very rarely see anyone and I couldn't care less if someone saw me with a gun I'm not embarrassed about what I do. Do you put your gun in a slip every time you cross a public right of way? It's no different really is it? Quote Link to post
CharlieT 32
I live in a very similar environment to the one you describe and when going out for a walk round with a gun I've never used a slip in over 50 years. Quote Link to post

It only takes one arsey jobsworth to make a call and legal or not you will be looking at an armed response, its very rural here and when crossing from one permission to another over roads and up tracks i rarely use a slip infact i leave the slip in a hedge as soon as i start, just be sensible as spending a couple of hours arguing the toss after laying your pride and joy in the mud isnt the best way to spend time Quote Link to post
PLEDGEY 496
I always carry one of those thin canvas type slips. They roll up really small, small enough to fit in your pocket. I never under estimate the public's ability to totally over react when they see any thing that looks like a gun. I don't HAVE to put it in a slip, but i do. It's all about due diligence. The one 8,482
As said is it worth it first person that sees you calls the cops the armed response appear and its 50/50 if you loose your cert for keeping it in a cover till you reach your permission its a no brainer for me but each to there own Quote Link to post
