milo 74
Out of interest how many of you would be prepared to tolerate a hawk that calls/screms.. Whether it be all the time Only when the bird sees you Only out in field Transported etc etc....even if the hawk was a world beater how much would you tolerate.. Quote Link to post
youcanthide...BANG 1,051
I probably wouldnt mind when in transport or the odd squark when i walk past but not all the time or out in the field, would drive me up the wall. No matter how good it is, its not fair on the nighbours either Quote Link to post
Bluebell h 69
Not for me fella ! Quote Link to post
arcticgun 4,548
Depends on overall hunting ability, out and out screamer no chance too much for neighbours to take, however the odd murmur etc no problem to me personally, think if ya take one on like that ya have a chance of correcting the behaviour by breaking certain associations maybe start next moult Quote Link to post
Accip74 7,112
I would'nt get to the point of finding out it was a 'world beater'......I can put up with some calling, but I've experiance screaming in the field & I found it intolerable...... Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
A bit at home I can live with, but in the field, no chance, it would drive me to distraction, I would end up strangling the thing. 1 Quote Link to post

No nabours for me to worry about a lot of my imprints are quite in the feild! theres imprints and 'imprints' done be someone like yourself all the benefits are there to be had, done be some numpty wanting and easy gos or spar , then its a tragedy for the bird and any one living near by lol something I would love to ry to do one day however, likely be a goshawk male Quote Link to post
milo 74
Don't think I could handle it if it was constant, but the odd call maybe if I want to pick up I probably wouldn't worry over it.. Quote Link to post
pointer 543
I could handle any amount of noise from hawks, chickens, dogs , geese, horses etc etc. My neighbours couldn't. 1 Quote Link to post
Accip74 7,112
It's an interesting point, if you have no neighbours to worry about, it would probably be more tolerable or if the situation was different. My first gos didn't make a sound till mid December of 1st season, up to then he had gone like a dream & exceeded my expectations, I came home from work one day & heard this high pitched call, I thought it was a seagull lol never heard him before.....the noise never became an issue cos it was occasional & never in the field....but if it was regular....what would I have done? He was going so well I would have just put up with it I suppose....& tried to find a solution Quote Link to post
